Home assignment and the information age
Home assignments are a time for missionaries to recharge, reconnect, raise financial support and report on their work to their supporting churches and individuals. It can vary in length, based on where the work is in their process, missionary family needs, etc. It is usually a much needed break from the constant responsibilities of field work, but requires significant planning, travel, and engagement with supporters often leaving missionaries feeling more tired than when they arrive.
The information age has had a huge impact on home assignment. The availability to send off quick messages, prayer requests, or face time calls helps cut the felt distance. However, those quick interactions can lead people to believe they already know what is going on and can negatively affect in-depth connection desired on home assignment.
Reality is that even with the ease of communication in the information age, the need for genuine face-to-face time, hugs, and freedom to express oneself deeply is not fulfilled over the internet and home assignment is still essential.
The Wilsons will be on home assignment. Due to the infancy of the church plant, their time will be short and centered in Ohio. The dates are June 17-July 18, 2025. They will be visiting the following churches if you would like to meet up with them there: • June 22 – Crossway Vineyard, Urbana, Ohio • July 06 – Madison County Vineyard, London, Ohio • July 13 – Vineyard Community Church, Reynoldsburg, Ohio You can reach them through email to connect at other times – marsha.wilson@xingu.org
Thank you for your prayers, financial, and emotional support that have directly enabled the work in Brazil.
