Statement of Faith | Xingu Mission

Xingu Mission holds that the Holy Spirit inspired the human authors of the holy scripture so that the Bible is without error in the original manuscripts and receives the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testament as its final, absolute authority, the only infallible rule of faith and practice.

At Xingu Mission….

We believe in one living and true God, the Creator and Lord of the heavens and the earth. In the unity of the Godhead there are three persons, of one substance, co-eternal, God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.

We believe that Jesus Christ is truly God and truly man, uniquely qualified to be our Messiah, the only mediator between God and man. We believe that Jesus Christ came to earth as God incarnate, was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary, lived a sinless life and was crucified for the sins of all of mankind. We believe he suffered, died, was buried and rose from the dead on the third day. We believe that he ascended into heaven and now sits at the right hand of God the Father, interceding for his people. We believe that at his first coming Jesus inaugurated the fulfillment of the Kingdom of God.

We believe in the Holy Spirit who convicts the world of sin; who regenerates those who confess Christ as Savior; and who sanctifies and empowers all those who believe in Christ as Lord. We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Jesus Christ and that he is an abiding helper, healer, teacher and guide. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit and in the exercise of all the biblical gifts of the Spirit.

We believe that all men and women are sinners by nature and choice and are under condemnation. We believe that Christians are now accounted as righteous before God by the merit of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, through faith in him alone and not by their own works.

We believe that Christians are born again by the regenerating power of the Holy Spirit and that this same Holy Spirit lives in them producing faith, holiness, love and power.

We believe in the divine inspiration, truthfulness and authority of both the Old and New Testament Scriptures in their entirety; that they are without error in all that they affirm; and that they are the only infallible rule for faith and practice.

We believe that the Church is intended by God to be a worshipping community of believers, observing the ordinances of Christ, governed by his rule and exercising the gifts of the Spirit in ministry within the Church for its edification and to the world so that the gospel may be extended to the ends of the earth.

We believe the Lord’s Supper is open to all believers. We believe that through the power of the Holy Spirit the Lord’s Supper nourishes the Christian’s soul, brings remembrance of the sacrifice of Christ for sins, and enhances communion with Christ and the Church.

We believe in water baptism as an outward symbol of an inner possession by Jesus Christ, as an act of public declaration of personal faith in Jesus Christ, and as an act of obedience to the Word of God.

We believe in the personal, visible return of Jesus Christ to earth for the consummation of his Kingdom; in the resurrection of the body; in the final judgment of the living and the dead; in eternal blessing of the righteous; and the endless suffering of the unrighteous.
