Portel, Pará is located on the Amazon River Delta. It is an incredibly beautiful place with lots of islands, forests, wildlife, fruit trees, and more. With a myriad of rivers that connect in all directions, Portel is situated in a good location to help the river residents suffering from unsafe, unclean water. Life on the river consists of using the same river water to bathe, clean, take care of necessities, and drink. Rainy season makes the water dirtier as the water levels rise, stirring up mud and taking in debris and trash. To add to the problem, most families on the river have very little income and transportation for health care is difficult and the distance is great. The need for clean drinking water is high. With your donations, families can receive a filter and improve their health and quality of life.
CDR Portel is the Non-government organization that handles the water filter project.
