Soup and prayer Monthly, Vineyard Belém, led by Steve and Elba Dolan, takes to the streets with soup and prayer. What started as the churches’ small groups joining together for a meal, led to taking the leftovers out to the street. From there it evolved to each small group making a pot of soup to jointly serve the hungry on the streets. After serving each person some soup, the team offers to pray for them, treating each person respect and care.
Serving others with love requires one to have empathy, understanding, and a willingness to take action to help. This fosters gratitude and humility in the server, a sense of value in those being served, and a greater sense of community in all.
People have received healing and blessing as they serve and pray for over 250 people each month. One particular lady shared that she had no food and had just run out of cooking gas. The soup was a blessing for her and her husband.
Simple acts of love are being built into the DNA of the Belém church plant, allowing everyone the opportunity to participate, and breaking barriers. This is encouraging divine action!
May you be encouraged to reach out and serve others this month.
