Amazon Update! Bless you!

Hello

We are so grateful for all your prayers and support.  Please keep them up!  Be blessed with the below update.

The church is chugging along, and almost every week we are at standing room only.  Our children’s room is also full.  Right now, it shares space with the kitchen.  It is safe and secure, but very tight.

We also had a new member’s class this month.  We had 26 people sign up to become new members.  During the class, we explain the church’s history, theology, and values.  During our time together, we sit with the new members and try to answer any questions they may have about the church.  Then, we share a meal.  At the end, each person can join or take more time to pray and consider.

Unfortunately, not everyone was able to participate because of the torrential rains that we have been experiencing, and it appears that everyone is coming down with a form of the flu.  Sicknesses pass through fairly quickly here because of the proximity of everyone, and then it quickly fades away.

The water filter project has been put on pause.  The pause is due to the boat captain/project manager leaving.  It was a mutual agreement.  The manager had many years of experience with the filter project and the boat.  The loss of his experience certainly puts the project in a bad spot to continue to deliver filters at this time.  The church also had a setback: he was a leader and hosted a home group.  We are working on his replacement.  In addition, we are working to improve the filter we deliver to people along the river.  The team has been working with the manufacturer of the Hydraid filter.  The Hydraid filters offer significant advantages:

– More durable
– More compact
– Easier to transport
– Easier to install in remote areas

The speed boat has been working overtime and needs a paint job.  During this pause, we will try to get that done.  Please keep the water filter project in your prayers during this time of transition.

Due to the rains, Camilly has missed school.  Where her school is located, flooding is common, and driving is dangerous in that area.  She is back at school.  It also appears that bad weather is not exclusive to Brazil, as Alyssa’s school in Ohio had to close due to a lack of electricity caused by a major windstorm.  She shared a video with me while they were driving, and it was intense!

PRAYER REQUEST:

Please pray for our church, leadership, and congregation that they may help people draw closer to God and reveal His plans for the church and for us.

Please pray for our family.

Please pray for our spiritual, physical, mental, emotional, and financial health.

Please pray that we can find permanent land and buildings in Belem.  We have identified a building and are praying that the funds will be available to purchase it.  Please join us!

Much love, Steve, Elba, Camilly, and Alyssa
