Missão Xingu: Blaylocks in Brazil

Hello Friends,

Happy back to school month! We hope that your summer has been enjoyable and refreshing.

Our kiddos have officially started their new school year as well! We have a 7th grader, a 6th grader, a 4th grader, and a 2nd grader! Our kiddos are doing well in school and in their Portuguese language learning as well. They are now at the point where they can carry on basic conversations with the other kids in jiu-jitsu or at the park.

August is also Father’s Day here in Brazil. I felt well celebrated by my family.

This last month has been fruitful, fun, good, and also hard and trying. We have some beautiful things happening in the church, and some hard things. Growth and some death. Life, movement. momentum, and also opposition and hardship. Normal ministry in other words!

Below is some brief updates on the ministry along with prayer request. But we have a special request this month. Amanda has been really struggling with migraines again. This is something that she has dealt with off and on for years, but this last month has been very, very bad for them. Please pray for healing from this issue.

Thank you for your support and for partnering with us in sharing the Good News.

Love,

The Blaylocks

Prayer Request

  1. Friends and language learning for our kiddos!

  2. For the group that meets in the eastern part of the city. There has been some spiritual warfare, personal challenges amongst the families, and some training needed.

  3. For the launch of the third group in a neighboring city. There is someone to lead, and someone local has donated a meeting space! We need a little bit of startup funds.

  4. For our outreach on September 7th with the Muay Thai club.

  5. Amanda’s migraines and health.

Prayer Request Focus / Ministry Updates

September Outreach: We have mentioned in previous letters that Amanda and I joined a Muay Thai club. God has been moving in those relationships and we are enjoying the community that we have found there. The first Sunday of every month we have a community BBQ, and for this next even the club owner wants to host the BBQ at the studio for the purpose of getting even more people from the club connected to what we are doing. Pray for connection, conversations, and conversions!

Eastside Group: For now we call this group the Eastside group as we are waiting for a name and identity to emerge from the Holy Spirit. There has been some challenges for these families in both work and relationships, and it has lead to us not meeting together as regularly as everyone would like. Some of it is the normal stuff of life, and some of it is spiritual warfare. Pray for help from the Lord for the personal challenges, and for a regularity to our meetings.

New Group Launch: Pray that as this gets off the ground that we will get the funds needed to help with some of the travel cost, and especially pray for the hearts of these dear people in this group who were hurt and abandoned by their previous leaders from another church.

Blessings to you all!
